Talking Changing from conventional to synthetic

My truck has 42,000 miles on it and as far as I can tell it has only had conventional oil in it. I was wondering if I should start using synthetic oil. Are there any benifits??? or stick with conventional oil!!! Thanks in advance guys....

I run Amsoil in all my cars . I can go up to twenty five thousand miles between complete change out . Still do a filter and top off every five thousand . Amsoil now has their own oil filters now that are a little pricey , but don't have to change them until you do the complete change out . Amsoil is $7.00-8.00 a quart . But in the long run it works out in my favor anyway with the benefits you get (no crude) . And not putting my hard earned money overseas in Saudi Arabias pocket .

I know switching to synthetic will get you better gas mileage also...I will soon be switching to synthetic also and I've been told Mobil One is good for the price...One of the more common brands is Royal Purple however, I was told that it costs more "because of the name" and Mobil One is a better way to go.

Go with Valvoline Syntec or Penzoil Platinum (maybe ever Quaker Stake Torque Power)! These will be the best 3 you can buy. I use the Platinum in all my cars and it works great. If you didnt buy new and have no warranty, go with the Syntec as they Garanty you motor for 300,000 miles.

I spoke to the guys at a local shop in the phoenix area and they said they wouldn't recommend changing. They said it would start leaking all over the place because the synthetic is much thinner. I haven't heard of any real proof of this though. I'd also like to start using AMSOIL in mine, it has 33k miles. it's an 04.

33k miles is fine. You won't have a problem. Where about in Phoenix are you? I am in the Mesa area... PM me and we can meet up somewhere and BS a while.

will be in Phoenix 10/9-10/10 to race and do the gtg poker run cruise (10/10)...we should all meet up...I know alot of others will.. I use Amsoil myself.. 1 guess what the 3-4 fastest 1/4 na hemi qc's use, it isn't just coincidence. And runnin my 13.1's at the track with over 160k miles on her is a testament in itself..
