I know what your talking about mine does that here and there but the noise were talking bout now is coming from the CAI or the CAI caused something else to make a noise

it's the EGR valve..like said earlier, if you remove air resonator (Hemi hat), the sound is ver pronounced...it's normal... and if you do exhaust, you'll hear the valvetrain as well like this..

Came to the conclusion that it was the warmer air from the engine bay, mixing with the cooler air that it was sucking in, (it seems that the seals around the heat shield were not very good, if they worked at all).

I had a friend of mine help me to better close up the open spaces around the heat shield. We used a bit of sheet metal, some quick welds, and a bit of weather stripping. The decreased the pinging, but didn't completely cure it.

Not sure if you've got the same problem, but that's what happened with me. I've had no trouble out of the AEM brute force I've got on my Ram...

good luck

pingin is bad for the motor in the long run, signs of pre-detonation...you need to use higher octane fuel

chef:

You may be correct, but I no longer care, as I no longer have the car...

thanks for the info though...

06. I typically will run 89 in my Ram, though occasionally I'll run a tank of 87 (usually when the price spikes) or 93... I haven't noticed any difference in performance, regardless of the grade of gas I use.
