Default 96 Dodge 1500 V8 Question (?) HELP!!!!!!

I have a 96 Dodge 1500. When going up hill the truck looses power. I can mash the gas peddle to the floor and the truck will not gain speed. At most it will hold the speed around 60mph.

I have replaced the plugs, plug wires, the PCV valve, the air filter, the distributor and rotor. No change in the problem. I noticed a little bit of oil on the air filter I changed out. Any suggestions on what needs to happen so I can actually pass a car if I need too or go up a hill without coming to a near stop unless the peddle is all the way down?

Sounds like the catalytic converter could be clogged or the fuel pump is getting weak. You can pull the O2 sensor before the cat and see if it makes a difference. it will give the exhaust an escape route if the cat is clogged. Do you have a check engine light on?

I was thinking the two things you mentioned were the likely problems. However, I did not think of pulling the air sensor in front of the cat. I will do that. I have no check engine light on. Truck runs good, just has the power issue going up hills or passing. Mostly noted at higher gears. I will try what you have suggested. If you have other ideas, fire away. Thanks.

Okay...........the check engine light just came on today. What are your thoughts on that. Same issue at hand. I have not unhooked the air sensor yet, but will soon.
