Default Brake Pad Material

Does anybody know what the factory brake pad material is when getting the pads from a dealer? Are they semi-metalic, ceramic, etc..? Are they Mopar brand? This for an 05 Ram 1500.

I believe they're semi-metallic, which is why I switched to yellow-stuff pads, love them, little wear and they even have a break-in layer.

I was wondering what a good brand of pads would work. Right now I have 78,000 miles on the 05 truck with the original front pads. I have had almost no brake dust occur on the wheels. The Dealership cannot even tell me the compound of their pads that they sell. I am just mainly searching for a good quality pad with low brake dust. Any of the aftermarket brands perform beyond expectations?

My 300SRT8 would have the wheels black , the following day after it was washed . I switched over to Wagner Thermo Quiet . What a improvement . I haven't washed the car on several weeks and the wheels are dirty , but not as dirty as they would of been .

I've had good luck with Bendix on other vehicles. Still have dust, but you can submit the purchase to Bendix and get a coupon for another set of pads when the first wear out. They seem to hold up pretty well.
