its the MDS i found out from dealer. in my truck you can hear it really good at low speed when light on the gas! the MDS kicks in and BAM. I just turn up the radio. its funny thow my buddy has the same year and his you can barley hear. guess it depends on the truck.

I have an 07 with 14k on it and when I bought it its was pretty quiet even with the ticking but since I put the gibson exhaust on and cut out the first resinator its alot louder at low speeds when the mds kicks in. I just got used to it and on those days where it gets annoying I just turn the stereo up. And if i ever get around to installing my subs and amp from my previous car I will probably never hear the ticking again.

kjtc6, I would get it checked out if it were me just to make sure it's not the valve train tapping . Mine had a minor vt tap at start up after sitting a spell when oil change was due. It's due for another change and I've heard it again probably because of the old low weight oil and no big deal . And for what it's worth to everyone here, whether it be hydraulic or solid lift, they make adjustable rockers for both . Second, I would never install any high performance hydraulic cam without adjustable rockers in any pricey vehicle. Not all stock vehicles have that option, but some do, tighten down till ticking stops and back off 1/4 turn. You can get hydraulic rollers with adjustable nuts to set the correct 0 valve lash. I'm not sure About the Gen 111 Hemi, but if they didn't have one available, I wouldn't waist my time buiding one Point is, just because the just because you have a hydraulic cam or rollers, it doesn't mean they are not adjustable, lol. Happy Holidays, enjoy

I went to a heavier weight oil for the summer and it seems to dull it a bit, its not loud enough to bother me anymore

If i'm thinking of the sound your describing my Ram has it too. But i will say it is not nearly as noticeable as the 5.3 engine knock when you start them after sitting for a few days.

I have 60000 on my 04 and had a noise. Changed to 10 x 30 synthetic and pulled a 8000lb 5th wheel over 3000 miles. Noise is gone.
Could try that??
