Default Synthetic oil question

I have 98 1500 w/ 5.9L. I am currently running 10W-30 non-synthetic. the truck has 157K miles on it. I was thinking about switching to synthetic but am unsure what weight oil or even what brand i should go with. I was thinking amsoil but idk. what should i do?

does it make that much of a difference switching to synthetic? i'm sure it's better for your engine but is there a difference with mileage and power?

I have an '07 with 36k on it... last oil change I switched to Mobile One with a Mobile One oil filter and I am getting 4 mpg more than before. With Mobile one you can go longer between oil changes as well.

o wow. so your truck got 4 mpg more but has all of the modern electronics for the better fuel mileage...so i'm looking around 2-3 max? also what weight did u use? 10W-30 or 5W-30 or 10W-40? i was thinking of going with the 10W-30 weight.
