I also drive a 01' 2500 V10. It has 236000 on it. Runs past everything but a gas station. It kinda automatically turns in there. But like "rschawo" said, keep a close eye on the trans. I've had my linkage adjusted twice & one sensor replaced in last two yrs. I use Castoil syn-tech 5w20 oil & change it every 3500/4000 mls. I pull a 28' 5th wheel camper @ 70-80 mph all the time. Runs like it's empty. Love it, it'll love U back Bro! "Keep On Rammin It"

The V-10 is an overbuilt beast. I live in Deep South Texas, and in the heat of summer it stays super cool. I agree with the guys above, do the maintenance, and don't talk bad about her....

i had bought my 95 ram 2500 4x4 with a V10 about a year ago... and as far as mileage... ha... it runs about 10 mpg city and 13 highway... although that is with single rear wheels and in the 3/4 ton...

Sorry for not posting in awhile guys but life sometimes gets in the way :^)

Anway, the old girl is running pretty well. My gas mileage is 8-10 mpg but I have a utility body on it with my tools.

Two problems that I have encountered so far are:

1) I believe that I will have to have the tranny adjusted due to the fact that it does kind of "shudder" or "stutter" when down shifting into 2nd gear when pulling a hill. I did have the transmission flushed and filled with synthetic fluid and it helped but other than that, the tranny seems fine.

2) Pulled our 5,000 pound trailer the other day and it was hating life going up the mountains. Its like it lost power or something. When I got to my buddy's house (he's been a Mopar nut for 30 years) he said that my catalytic converters are probably bad. In addition, we could smell something hot. It wasn't the engine or tranny since their temps were fine.

So, I will be getting the tranny adjusted and will get 2 high flow catalytic converters. In addition, I think I will get 2 of those chambered mufflers for it as well.

If I am missing anything or anybody has any other advice, I am all ears and would appreciate it!

Thanks guys!

Toms Blue Ram--Went ahead and updated my User Cp. Hope this helps and thank you for the help.

As far as the gas mileage, I don't really care since I don't drive it everyday. I am more interested in the POWER :^)

I had briefly thought about doing away with the catalytic converters but nixed the idea. I'm not really worried about the legal issue since we don't have yearly smog tests up here but was more worried about if I removed them that it would have a detrimental effect on the engine. I just need to find some nice high flow cats. I have checked a couple sites but don't know which ones are the best. Any ideas anybody?
