This is the 2009 forum so it only applies to ALL 2009 5.7 Hemi's, pre and post Dec. 2008 builds.

I have a 2005 1500 with the 5.7 and have never seen the light, though I know it drops to 4cylinders. Does my year just not have the light then??

MDS was not installed on the Rams until 2006. I traded an 05 and it definitely did not have MDS.

The new 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 is the first pickup truck and latest Chrysler Group vehicle to feature standard MDS with the 5.7-liter HEMI.

You are right AaronF you do not have the light.

My last Hemi was a 2007 that did have MDS but no light.

I can tell already that this 09 is much more sensitive to the MDS and reacts much better than my 07 that I drove for 3 years.

All in all I am very impressed with the new MDS system and after all the post's I am telling the mechanics to NEVER flash mine unless they can guaranty an improvement.

The update came out at first of June and I was under the impression that it helped ALL 2009 5.7 engines. It realy helped mine, although it took a few weeks for the computer to "learn" the flash. Even tho it did not put on the light the mileage was up 1-2 mpg around town and on the highway.

No we're glad you posted that here Sparky and Aaron, because I saw this thread earlier and it's the one you should check out http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....ighlight=knock

Also thanks guys for quoting the fix (TSB 18-019-09). I've been to the dealership three times for this problem and now I've got a smile on my face.

I'm in Jersey now and I'll be driving back to Michigan on Friday. I'm gonna find a dealership around here that has the flash.

I bested 19 MPG on the way here A 12 HOUR TRIP!!! We'll see...

I saw that one too. Wait that was me. I put in the light so that is why this thread grabed my attention. I thought I could help people out, but I did not catch at that time that this was the 09 thread.
