Default Newbie power steering question

hello all....im a proud new owner of my dream 08 dodge 1500 ram hemi big horn 4x4 . i have a question though, and im hoping i didnt already mess up. i was checking my power steering fluid level today and it looked a little low. i went to autozone and picked up some Lucas power steering fluid with conditioners. i want only the best for the truck and it seemed like a good product. after i added some i noticed in the manual that it calls for atf4 tranny fluid. even though the lucas says its safe for all power steering systems..did i mess up. i just dont want it to mess up my power steering. should i get it flushed and start over, or should it be ok. any help will the great..and thanks for having me

Welcome to the Z!!! I think you will be fine....I know years back I used to use tranny fluid for power steering not because it was better, its because I had some lying around.....Never hurt anything

Like he said ^^^ you should be fine. In my older vehicles, tranny fluid worked just as well, but the Lucas shouldn't give you any problems, either.

Lucas PS fluid in a system that calls for tranny?

Shouldn't be a big deal. Like the two posters above me, I've mixed and matched before based upon what was on my shelf.

thats for the replys. i only put maybe a little over 1/4 of the bottle. i just wanted to make sure that it wasnt something that i need to get flushed and start over. its my new baby so i want to make sure its nothing thats going to mess anything up over time. this is the first vehichle ive owned that called for ATF instead of power steering fluid. i should have paid attention before i added it and noticed the difference in the color.

If your not real sure and feel uncomfortable , get a suction gun and suck out what you can from the reservoir and refill with ATF+4 . Do this several times and you should feel confident then that it will be ok .
