Default V10 tune up after 118000 miles

my question or questions are i have a 99 v10 and the head gasket just went out. im fairly confident that i can do the fix my self but im also wondering if there are any suggestions in what i should change or fix while i have the engine torn apart. i also have a question regarding the cooling of the number seven piston i have heard cooling jackets were too small so the pistons would detonate and ruin the engine. ive done research about it but find almost nothing and wondered if anyone else thought it was a good possibility or if i should take extra precautions after i get the engine running.

Make sure you change your O2 sensors . The antifreeze contaminates the sensors . Alot of time cylinder head gasket manufacturers will hear of a constant problem and make a revision to a head gasket (larger or smaller passages) to try and correct a problem .

I think the detonation problem was with the '98 and earlier. At least that is what I read on another site.
