Default Am I nuts?

OK I'm new here but not an idiot, but tonite I feel like one. 3 days ago I bought an '06 Quad Cab in mint condition from the dealer in the closest city (40 miles away). Today I went tire shopping and noticed for the first time that under the rear wheel wells there is no lining or enclosure whatsoever - you can look up, back, forward and see the inside sheet metal of the body everywhere. It's all spotless right now because the dealer did an amazing job detailing this thing for sale. I just can't believe there's no plastic liner sections inside the wheel wells especially since it's fully lined up front. I'm thinking the dealer's detailing crew forgot to reinstall after cleanup, & I have a right to insist on getting it back in. Otherwise my truck is going to add 500 lbs of dried mud the first time it goes in the dirt, & I'll have rust problems galore.

Am I on the right channel here? This has to be a stock piece - every truck I've ever owned has had a wheel well liner of some sort. Thanks, Buckee

My '06 isn't lined either. From other Ram owners I've been told that this is normal and to clean the rear wheel wells often because it will cause rust.

They do not come with them and the dealer wants around $125 for the pair. I purchased mine on ebay for $78 including shipping from a dealer in the Carolinas. It took all of 20 minutes to install.

Mine has them, too 'cause if it didn't, especially around here, I would buy them as it is definitely a must! However, it wouldn't hurt to check with them to see if they just forgot to put them back on.

Well this 2009 is the 5th Ram in a row for me and the First with the Wheel Well Liners.

The 1998, 2001 and the 2004 Had no Liner or Gaiters at all and driven daily here in the Salty Sloppy North, No Rust showed up. And it was fairly easy to clean up from the mud.

The 2007 had what they called Gaiters and only on the rear. This was a half height liner and only on the back of the rear wheels.

I like the full liners. Much nicer and easier on the truck.

I agree, they are nice, but I am considering a set of mud flaps, also. Where I work, there is no "parking lot" per se, just a wide expanse of dirt and limestone .

Nope, no wheel liners on my 2003, 2004, or 2008 Rams...
