Default Keyless Entry

I recently bought a 2005 Ram 1500 Daytona, and I'm absolutely loving it. The only thing that bothers me is that it didn't come with a keyless entry remote. All the remotes I've looked at say you either need an existing remote or need to take it to a dealer to get it programed. However, I'm not very fond of the $80 programming fee. Is there anyway I can do it myself?

You don't have to buy the factory stuff . If your going that far why don't you look into getting an aftermarket unit that does keyless entry and remote start . Both neat features .

yeah cuz you still have to pay for the key and to program it at the dealer...My would be $240 for one key(i believe)....but yeah, getting an aftermarkey one would be better cuz you can get more features...

I love the remote starts w/ keyless entry: kind of a must in Alberta winters. The Surestart package is great and gives you lots of options on the fob. Costs about $200 canadian.
