Default Not all 5.7 HEMIs are alike

I'v been looking into service of 5.7 and found out that what is in an 1500 is not the same as in a 2500. The 2500 dose not have the MDS option and the tune is totally different. The tune in an 2500 has more torque to deal with the heavier payload. I don't know if it has an affect on horsepower, but with that and the 410 in the axles I get those rice boxes at the light every time.

That was for the 2500 ....right...I though the 1500 w/5.7L was 345 ponies.
Thats a whole lot more than I had with a chevy 4.3L

Yep that was for the 2500 W/ the HEMI aswell. Just a tad more power. And from what I just saw in another post, the 2500 does NOT have MDS, so you luck out there!

I get to see some of the Ram 4500 at work and they can haul, me tells you. The cummins still out pulls, but the 4500 HEMI puts out some serious power too.

There are internal differences The Manuel states
"The Multi Displacement System selectively deactivates cylinders 1,4,6, and 7, to improve fuel economy. It has two
modes of operation :
• 8 cylinders for acceleraton and heavy loads.
• 4 cylinders for cruising and city traffic.
The main components of the Multi Displacement System are :
• Unique MDS camshaft.
• Deactivating roller tappets.
• 4 control valves/solenoids.
• control valve/solenoid wiring harness.
• oil temp sensor. "
