Default Sorry...

Sorry I've been out of touch and not here...if any of you noticed...

I came home from Cabo San Lucas last week to find a dead laptop and a freaked out desktop. Totally unrelated issues but they have limited my access.

The laptop was totally dead. It would not boot up but I managed to diagnose a battery problem so I pulled that and booted up with AC power only...to find no video displaying. I hooked the laptop vga out to the desktop monitor and got video finally. Only to find a Windoze registry problem. Have to reload Vista...but the manufacturer did not give me a boot recovery or Windoze disc...and can't provide them. So, a buddy of mine (who fixes computers) is attempting to retrieve data of the HD before I send it off to the mfgr under my extended hardware warranty.

Then, I find that after I did a Java update on the desktop, none of my Javascropt enabled controls work when browsing...like when you scroll over a Photobucket pic file and you get the popup that allows you to do a direct link for posting pics on this or another web-based forum? Or if I wanna add a smilie to this post? No worky...

And, videos imbedded here or on YouTube or any other place won't play. I hear that many older computers have been rendered virtually useless by this upgrade so be careful. It seems that to use the Java controls with this upgrade you need a specifically spec'd video card. It's not compatible with previous generations. And if your laptop or desktop PC doesn't support a specifically spec'd video card, yer screwed. Haven't been able to confirm this yet but I am gonna dig into it a bit. I'm also gonna try to delete the most recent Java update (#17 for Windoze) and see if that helps.

Maybe I should switch to a Mac...or just dump all the computers here and quite using the damn things...LOL

So, suffice to say, using a PC lately has been a very frustrating experience. Hopefully, I get all my issues sorted out and will be back here a lot more in the future.

For now, stay safe and enjoy the forum as this is the best Dodge Ram site in the freakin' world!

Since I won't be on as much, and if you need to get in touch with me, send me a PM here...at least I'll know by my Crackberry and email notices someone needs help.

Crap...

If it helps I recently upgraded my graphics card, they are fairly cheap now for a decent one (saw a 8600GT Nvidia for about $40 the other day).

I went with the Visiontek Radeon HD 4670 (play a lot of games so needed one that could go up to high and ultra resolution on Company of Heroes).

Depending on the year of your machine I may have one laying around here. Not just into audio, I also rebuild computers for friends and family.

Man I know what you mean when you have pc problems . Mine was on the way out the window into the back of the truck . Ended up going to Best Buy and bought a new one been great now for almost a year . Decided to hold on to the old one , may try to get it straightened out and use it for home security system .

Don't use the native browser on the BlackBerry, download Opera Mini. That is all I use anymore! Way faster and better than the on board browser!

I can't even post up my pics from Cabo San Lucas. None of the insert links or insert images or direct link popups work now. Guess I am gonna have to do a system restore process and go back in time to see if I can't get things working again. Failing that, it will be time to call in the experts to backup downloads and reload windoze...

I hate computers.
