Default Bluetooth and Tailgate Q's

Easy one first....Please see photos...

Does your truck have the orange looking rubber things connected to the bed tailgate area? Or is that a shipping thing that didnt get removed?

My bluetooth had been connected and 100% working, but the last 2 days Bluetooth has been connected and registering on the radio(Nav radio) but I can not get audio or microphone to work. So I haveto revert to the han held way. I tried deleting phones and restarting but with no luck. Any help would be great.

Thanks to all!

The orange looking things are rubber bumpers for the tailgate, to keep the squeaking down. the orange stuff is just like a funk, i cleaned it off the last time i washed my truck

I indeed also have the rubber thingies, mine are white though, not orange

About your bluetooth problem:
What phone do you have?
As a software developer I'm very much into gadget thingies like bluetooth carkits and advanced cellphones (smartphones if you will), and goes without saying that I've owned my share of both different phones and different BT carkits and headsets.
My experience is that while there should be a standarized bluetooth audio protocol, every device seems to speak its own dialect...

For example in my F150 (which I owned before my Ram), I had a Kenwood DNX8220BT (European model of the DNX7220BT) radio/entertainment system which also had an integrated carkit, this worked OK with my phone, but only until I had placed one call, after I finished that call the BT would disconnect and I would have to turn off/on the car to restart the radio.

Now the same phone works quite fine with the Uconnect in the Ram.

The best suggestion I have for you is to try with different phones (ask friends and family if you can borrow), if multiple phones show similar problems, there might be something wrong with the BT unit, but if it's just your phone, I think you're scr*wed...

I know that for my Kenwood unit, there was a List on the Kenwood website which showed what phone models were tested and supported with the BT functionality, I don't know if Dodge has a similar list, but if you're going to buy a new phone it would definitely worth checking out such a list...

The uConnect works perfect with my dinosaur of a phone, Motorola KRZR. It works so well, I am afraid to get a new phone.

The rubber bumpers on your tailgate look like they have rust on them. Not saying the rubber actually rusted, but maybe they were in a bin that rusted and just the dust of the rust.

On your phone. I have 2 cars with uConnect. A Challenger and now my Truck. I found the first time I had my iPhone connected to my Challenger I manually set it up. Worked great until I upgraded my phone. Then it stopped.

So I then used the the phone setup using uConnect. Where they ask you the questions and you perform the steps as they ask you. The iPhone worked great. Connected and had no issues at all.

If you haven't connected your phone using Phone Pairing, try it that way and see what happens. If you already did and you're still having problems then I'm not sure.

Hope it helps.

Try another phone with the uconnect. If you have an iphone, like I do, you have to use at least version 3.0 with the Iphone to get it to. Mine didn't work until I upgraded, now I am afraid to upgrade to 3.1.

It must have been the beer that helped fix it.
