I think Im gonna become a repo man because I think this program is gonna blow up in their faces. people that couldnt afford cars before the c4c got like 9 grand for a trade in..
I hate to say it but I would like to see the looks on them peoples faces that traded them vehicles in have to claim that downpayment as income this year on taxes...LMAO

yeah, my dad was telling me about that. He said his Corporal gave a Chevy Laguna S3 up to it for $300, and the car was flawless.

Well, they say history does repeat itself...but always 10x worse then before.

That was my thought, too, especially for those of us who have/have had older models and worked our butts off to restore those vehicles and keep the ones we have running, and to anyone who works in the automotive industry in any capacity, this is a real shame, not to mention waste, but that in a minute, for we go to work every day to help people keep their vehicles on the road, NOT in the graveyard!

I think what they should have done is, go ahead with the program, but instead of "killing" the vehicles, restore them and sell them to low income families who have children to support and jobs to get to but who have no reliable transportation, that way, those who were able to make a trade of their old vehicle, got into a new one where they might not otherwise have been able to, those less fortunate would have benefitted, but the government could have recouped a little bit of the money they invested in the program, so it would have been a win-win for everyone. Just my cheap
.02 cents...

Here at one time the state was talking about "giving " the low income families the retired police cars and service trucks the state uses, not sure if they went ahead with it or not I quit following the story,
I agree they could have sold those vehicles in an open sale or something NO DEALERS ALLOWED!!! and someone could have benefited from the program besides the auto industry and as mentioned it could have saved maybe even half or more and tried to keep the cost to the taxpayers a minimal.
But I honestly think they had other motives in mind...

Thanks buddy, I appreciate that! I just figure there are mo'better ways of doing things, lol, (I thought I was the only one who said that!), than the usual wastefully in-efficient, that and it could also make a great volunteer effort for those trade schools who offer Automotive Technologies courses, the students get class credit for doing the work and are learning something at the same time, like community service, in addition to just their trade/vocation...

I will be running for president in 2012 with a write in campaign, lol!

Well, they say history does repeat itself...but always 10x worse then before.
Mopar magazine even took an emissions test set up and was checking some of the cars that were being crushed and said that many of them were getting better emissions than the cars that were available at the time.
They even tried to save some and were offering 500 and more for some of the cars, but the owners said they were doing their part to "save the environment" and wouldnt sell, they did get a few and saved them from the crusher, but there were a heap more that they just had to stand by and watch them go...

wow.bad deal.some real nice vehicles are no more.we had one local older gentleman here turned in an original '74 chevy pickup.he was the original owner;ordered truck to his liking(camper special,454,air,etc)this thing was immaculate;always garaged.tried to get him or someone in his family to put it on ebay first and that he would probably get more for it,but he didn't.only had 47,000 original miles.didn't even look like anything was ever in the bed.he only used it to tow a small jayco camper for him and his wife.
