Now that is just a sad shame, just glad I didn't see any Jeeps on the list, 'cause there would have been some big crocodile tears!

You know kinda getting off this subject a little . Isn't it something that one of the requirements was to dump some s*** in the oil and destroy the motor . What about all the totaled vehicles out of Katrinas flood . The cars that the insurance companies paid off . Now these auctions and scrap yards are half a** cleaning them up and reselling them . You buy a used engine from a junk yard or a car from auction now and you don't know what your getting . They should of made sure everyone of those vehicles or their components were destroyed before letting them go to auction or scrap yard .

Just to clear some some things about the program while it was in effect....

The vehicle had to be 1985 or newer...so...the guy with the Chevy truck really couldn't of done C4C with it. The dealer may have accepted it and tried it, but, they would have been denied the government money.
The vehicle had to get a combined MPG of 18 or less.
Also...the engine had to have the oil drained, and sodium silicate (liquid glass) put in the oils place, and run till it cause the engine to lock up.

Also...the only parts allowed to be sold off of the vehicles are body parts. Engine and drivetrain parts are not allowed to be touched.

Also...Cajun...I'd hate to break it to you, but, many Jeeps were killed in the program. More Grand Cherokees than anything else. And, about 100 Jeep Wranglers were killed as well.

There was a list on Cars.gov, but, they took it down because so many people were raising a stink about some of the cars that were on it, and the website I linked only mentioned the ones that really seemed an odd trade in.

I agree completely, Tom, and believe it or not, some of them are still showing up around here. Heck, the company I worked for at the time had several vehicles flooded out, and what did they do??? REBUILT them, completely, and who knows what sucker is stuck with all that junk! That being the main reason that when it came time for me to purchase a vehicle, there was NO way I was going to buy used anything down here! Seems like the good ideas get reversed and we just end up with a bunch of bad results!

I figured someone had to burst my bubble, lol, but that's ok, 'cause I still have mine!

I would hate to be the person that bought a used engine and went through all the work of the install to find out you got a bad engine all because someone wanted to make a buck off of ya . That whole situation was handled wrong .
