The advantages are that it will open and allow coolant to flow through your engine at 180 degress instead of waiting until your engine to heat up to 195 or 200 (not sure what stock is). This allows your engine to stay cooler and thus, more power. It also helps some with longevity of your engine and prevents any knocking that you might have.

Why wait until he reports it. Ordering it off of JEGS is only $34. You could also try running down to NAPA or another auto parts store and picking one up, might be cheaper. You never know Ramit, if it works you might be able to keep your truck, if it doesn't, you're out $34.

The idea makes sense and sounds good. But why would'nt the vehicle come from the factory with a 180 degree stat if it's such a cheap part and has so many benefits??

becuase the factory loves it when you spend money on your truck =] lol kidding, you are right bobcat i think i will try it, 34 bucks isnt that much.... hopefully i can keep my truck its my baby!!

I'm more curious about the installation than anything. Is it fairly straight forward, it sounds like it's also reversable if all doesn't go well, is this true? Thanks guys!

Yea, should be reversible, just be careful of the coolant coming out.
