Trust me, its extremely addicting. lol. My brother is huge into camping/survival type stuff, and he heard about it from someone he met out in the woods that was out looking for a cach. So he to look into it, and has been doing it ever since. He went one time during a family g2g, and i tagged along with him, found i really enjoyed it, so i went out and bought a handheld gps unit, and have been doing it ever since. Theres also things called geocoins and geotrackers. these have serial numbers on them and you give them objectives. Some want them to visit ever state in the U.S. Others even try to get them to end up over seas in a certain location and time, cause they're going on a business trip there, and would like to find it in a cach when they are there. But yeah, definitely a very fun activity to do. plus its endless. new ones popping up all over the place everyday.

I hear you, I'm just addicted to the outdoors, lol, so that would really be fun! I am definitely going to have to read up some more on this. So am I to understand it that once the cach is placed, it stays there for as many people to find it as can? Have you placed any yourself, or is it just the thrill of the hunt?

You are correct. Once a cach is placed, it stays there, and sometimes grows bigger and better as people find it. I do not have any of my own yet, but plan on getting some out there. I've heard that actually placing your own is more fun than finding others, cause you get the to decide what people have to go through to get to it, then hear their stories of finding it. So each has its own thrill. or at least I'm told.

That really is cool, you're definitely on to something with that, lol, but yeah, I bet placing your own would be fun, you can make it as easy or difficult as you wish. Just reading through some of the hints people give, man I could have some serious fun with that! Thanks for sharing the idea!

Yeah. My brother hid one that's about 15 feet up in a tree. Others you have to swim out to a log in the middle of the lake, and it'll be attached there, or countless other ways of hiding them. some very clever, and some darn near impossible to find. Mostly, you just have to kinda think to yourself, "if i was to hide one here, where would i put it?" But definitely glad you find it interesting, and might maybe get into it. Cause that just means there's one more person out there helping to add more cachs, and help travelbugs/geocoins to move along. Its just strange, cause I've found a few where I actually walk past on a daily bases, and would have never found or imagened anything like that being there had i not gotten into this.

I'm definitely going to read more up on it as there really are a lot of them less than 10 miles from where I live, according to my zip code, so that is really cool, and I mean, it gets you outside, makes you think, and if nothing else, you had fun and it really doesn't cost much but your time. Good thing to do with the kids or family and friends, unless you're placing one yourself, of course. Don't know that I'm in good enough shape to be climbing trees anymore, lol, but definitely an imaginitive and creative way to spend a day. I am going to have to tell a couple people about this, because you're right, the possibilities are endless.

Well I'm glad you took an intrest in it. Always nice to see the "sport" grow, and nice to open people up to new things. Definitely fun for the whole family of all ages. We've ran into people in there fifties out doing it. We also take my nephew out with us from time to time, and he just turned five four days ago, and he has a blast.

My gf and I have done this a few times ourselves, and it's a grreat way to spend a day together. We love some of the ones that take you out of town and hit some rough dirt roads. Just have to make the effort and it's a great time.

Here are some of the armor models I built years ago:

Currently unfinished are a Sherman tank and a King Tiger that has been a many year project. Hope to have a complete interior for it when completed.
