unless you got mods that require that extra octane, i would stop....read the manual, cuz if something happens you kiss that warranty(if you got one) goodbye...

I use 87 and no ethenol. I don't belive in burning food for fuel, jacking up the cost of everything from seed to fertilizer to livestock. All these price increases show up at market and we end up subsidizing the $3+ per gallon (real cost) to produce ethenol. There is more energy wasted in making ethenol than a gain in using it. Too many down sides.

How do you "not" use ethanol??? Just curious, cuz every gas station around my way has 10% ethanol...No getting around it...

I run a predator with an 87 performance octane tune so I run 87. This way the predator will eventually pay for itself with the couple bucks I save each time filling up.

LMAO!!

In my 2006 Hemi Ram I used 87 all the time as I didn't see a difference from running 89, 91 or 93, but when I got my 09 Ram Hemi and put 87 in I'll sometimes get light spark knock on hard pulls and especially when I'm pulling my boat and my gas mileage also suffers. If I run 89 like the manual reccomends, my mileage increases and runs alot stronger as well. The manual reccomends 89, but says 87 is suffucient and warns of possible occasional spark knock. I live in the middle of the desert where temps stay around 120 in the summer so thats already hard enough on the motor so for just about 3 bucks more a fill up to run 89 and get better performance and mileage, I feel that its worth the extra $$.

Another little bit of comparison that I did...on 87 I got 12-13mpg in the city and on 89 I got 15-16...all this was done with no loads and not towing anything. I don't have any highway numbers, but I plan to drive from Vegas to VA next month and will post numbers of the trip. I'm really excited to see how the new 09's do on a long trip since I've had all my rams on a long trip at one time or another.
