Default part 2, integrated brake install

here is the second part of integrated brake install part one is directly under this one, sorry for the mix up i didn't realize i could only get ten pics in till it was to late and didn't want to have to start over.

Please go easy on the criticism, I am not a mechanic or computer wiz just trying to help.

11- remove screw to existing trim ( found on side of dash by drivers door)
12- remove screw 2 to existing trim (to the right of and just above existing trim)
13- remove trim
14- install new trim with module, add screws that where removed from old trim to fasten new trim and module, free the 2 connectors from the wiring harness and plug the connectors into the module, this may prove a little inconvenient because it's cramped under the dash.
reinstall side panel and under panel ( don't forget to use screws you removed)
15 the finished product

I sure hope that brake works the way it should.
Camping season is almost upon us and I'm gonna have to hook up the camper it's a 32 foot 9600 lb Jayco tag along trailer and if that brake don't work I'm gonna have a problem, and yes I will test it first LOL. gotta say what a way to test the new truck my only fear is when i bought the truck i should have bought 392 gearing and I got 355's cause the truck i wanted didn't have the 392's and it was a 12 week waite and I couldn't wait, the haul is only 1.5 hrs from the site and i was told there was nothing to worry about as long as i didn't leave for a 3 day journey. We have a seasonal lot.

We're gonna find out.

I stopped by my local Dodge dealer to order the brake controller. They told me there are several hundred on back order, with no known availability date. Supposedly there is an issue with faulty brake controllers? Does anyone know more about this?

I havn't heard anything about it and I work at a dealer. Some times they assume a part is faulty because the part is on back order. Really a part being on back order doesn't mean much. It can be on back order 700 but you could still get it in a week. I wouldn't worry about it.

On my 2009 1500 SLT, I mounted the Tekonsha P3's tiny bracket onto the dash above the left, center cup-holder, (full front bench seat version). Only two small holes need to be drilled for the mounting screws. These can be covered with two small SS Phillips-head screws when dis-mounted - very unnoticeable. The advantage is, the visibility and access for manual-braking is excellent, and your leg-room is unaffected. I decided the usability and safety aspects of having the controller fully visible & accessible far out-weighed drilling a couple of holes in the dash. (It's a TRUCK after all...)

I just mounted my Tekonsha in the factory location. It doesn't look as nice as the factory optioned one but I think it'll work. I removed the piece of trim then used a dremel, file and utility knife to cut out the back of the panel. The controler fits so good/tight I didn't have to drill any holes and the harness plugged right in. It sticks out about 1.5"s...just enough so I can use the buttons/controls but not so much where I hit my knee on it b/c of how high the location is.
