I looked under my dash and both connectors are there and waiting to be plugged into it. The only problem I can foresee is the trailer brake controller obviously communicates over the bus since it uses inputs such as ESP from the ABS module and also has outputs to the cluster. What I have experienced in the past when I have done something like this is the network doesn't like it when you just add modules since that module is not in the build. So what I'm gonna do is plug it in and see if the network will just adopt the new module and start useing it. But if that doesn't work I'm gonna call me dealer service rep and pleed with him to add the trailer brake control module sales code to the build. I will keep you informed when the parts come in. The module is cheap it is only like $120 plus like $15 for the trim panel. If it works that is cheap for an inertia style brake controller. Plus if it works properly it uses ESP events to dictate the power to send to the trailer.
Cormacs the integrated trailer brake module code XHC is in the vehicle options add a sales code function on dealerconnect now should solve your cel problem.

My controller went to a guy with a 2010. He said everything seems to work fine except the EVIC of course. One note though, he said that when he lets off the brake, the controller voltage goes to zero meaning it wasn't holding. Do you have to be in tow haul for it to function? The incline he was on was pretty steep.

Do you still have the wiring diagram? My Dealer is incapable to find out for me. I have a 2009 Laramie 1500. Finaly I got the Bezel. Had to go to a differnent Dealer, my Guy was telling m,e the only come in black. So I have the Bezel in tan, the Modual but cant hook it up since no one can give me the wiring scematic. Can you help? would be graetfull.

It will not work with a 2009. It has been tested and it will not work. Soward customs the XHC is not addable from dealer connect. That was the first thing I tried, I even tried to get the star center to add it but they basically told me to screw off.

You can go ahead and try it. But I have had two people try and wire in the brake controller and it DOES NOT work with a 2009.

I was talking to the other guy who wants to install one in his 2009, it will not work. It will fit in but not work.

I stand corrected, it appears they added the sales code to the dealer addedable options. I added the trailer brake option to my build this morning. Not only did it solve the network issue the brake controller screens are now in the cluster. With that option added to the build the controller works exactly as if you had the truck built with it.

Thought maybe that would help out...

Thanks Guy's. I have given up to try and install the Modual in my 2009. I adapted the aftermarket one with the new Bezel. Does't look as good, but works.
Now I am stuck with the brand new Modual. The Dealer will not take it back. Part number 56029431AE. Hope someone needs one.
