Default Water pump seized!

i was at a red light and heard this squealing, it sounded like a wearing belt so i turned the AC off and the sound stopped. i get maybe half a mile down the road and i get this god awful sound. i pull over and lost power steering. i popped the hood and lo and behold my serpentine belt was wrapped around where my fan meets the engine. come to find out my water pump had seized up ive only got 41k miles on it. i think it's kind of weird but parts will be here in the morning thank god for AAA!!

Sorry to hear that man! At least it should be under warranty. I can imagine that would be unpleasant!

That sucks, sorry to hear about that man! I hear 'ya on AAA, my dad gave me my membership one year for Christmas, well before I bought the reliable RAM, and I have kept it ever since, always will! Glad to hear you have your parts on the way and will be fixed soon!

Yeah that does sound a little low for a bearing to go. But GM had a lot of water pumps go on the 4.3L go out early. The days of a water pump going 100,000 miles are history from what I have seem. cheaper parts or hotter engine temps... even the coolant could be the bad guy. On the up tick ...your set for another 40,000 miles

well this is kind of embarrassing but it wasnt the water pump... now that i have day light and i'm not pissed off that my truck is broken i was able to crawl underneath and find out it's just a lower idler pully.... now i have to see if auto zone will take the water pump i bought back.
