Default Auto Climate control Question

Question about my 09 Laramie’s climate control system. In all the vehicles with auto climate controls I have owned the past 10 years or so the heater blower does not activate until the engine temperature reaches a certain point to avoid blowing cold air in your face. However, my Dodge’s system when on auto starts the blower immediately and blows cold air around for a few miles (we have unseasonably cold weather currently). I have a 2006 300C which does not do this. I was going to ask my service manager about the situation and see if it is a software problem. I cannot believe they designed the system like that on purpose. Anyone else notice this problem?

In my '07 the blower kicks on whenever the auto start is used, but i have manual control over it so just set it high.

If your temp controls are all digital i'd have the dealership look at it as it may need a flash for this. Seems strange that the a/c would kick on automatically unless it was already set to on when the truck was turned off.

Yes, it does... according to the manual. I read that the day I picked up the truck as the A/C was always on in auto unless I turned it off.

But this is to stop the window from fogging up.. I have never had to use A/C on any other vehicle to prevent windows from fogging or clear it in the morning.. and while there is still humidity at -3, A/C ain't gonna do a thing for it..

Pop the hood next time you start the car on a cold morning. Almost all vehicles have a sensor that disables the a/c compressor in cold weather (not sure what the low temp cutoff is). Even if you turn the a/c to max and put it to the coldest setting in cold weather you'll find the compressor probably isn't on even though the light on the controls will be.

The compressor will kick in as the outside temperature goes up because the a/c coil will actually help draw water vapor out of the inside of the car (to reduce fogging). Humidity in the atmospere usually increases as temperature increases. As the temperature outside lowers towards freezing, the humidity in the air decreases as well. No humidity... no compressor needed to help draw the moisture out.

The remote start on the Rams is supposed to turn on the defrosters, **rear defrost, **heated mirrors, **heated seats, and **heated steering wheel (**if equipped).

I tried mine today with everything on auto and the blower was on but at a very low setting (not noticeable but it sounded like it was on) . its was -3C when I got in the truck.. after a little warm up and 2km of driving, the blower started to increase speed. It also said delay on the climate controls then increase speed when the delay went off.

If yours starts fast right away, I would get it checked out.
