Default Has anyone used Amsoil?? 5W-20

Just wondering if anyone has used it and what mileage you have used it too with no problems.
Reports say 60K miles just wondering if anyone has pushed that max

I use Amsoil in my Ram. I use the XL 5W20 (extended life). They say it's good for 7500 miles or 6 months. I wouldn't or haven't gone past 5500 miles with it but thats better than 3000. I would buy 8 quarts. They say 7 but i always need about 1/4 of the 8th to top it off. I changed mine this past weekend, 8 quarts plus a Mobil-1 filter for under $70.

What grade oil do you use? I don't know if Amsoil has 5W20 that will go that long.

I run Amsoil 5W-20 in my '07, Gonna be doing my first change here soon since I first put it in 5 months and 18,000kms ago. Stick with the 5W-20, not their 0-30, it will mess with your oil pressure and wreak havoc on you MDS system.

If your going to run the Amsoil and try to get up to the 25K life they say it can make it to you need to use an Amsoil filter or change yours on the regular basis. Also I would start with something iike a 7500 interval and have an oil analysis done and see if that indicates that you can safely extend the interval from there. I'm probably going to start this process on my Civic (dd) since its due for an oil change. First change on my Ram since I just got it is going to be some of that mobile1 clean stuff and it'll be changed again in 3k or less miles. We'll see once I get the valvecovers off and see what I'm dealing with.

Had a friend that switched to Amsoil. Ford truck, high miles. First filter change, his filter weighed about 4lbs from all the sludge that the synthetic cleared out. I am in the process of switching all my vehicles to Amsoil, and am going to do at least on filter change at about 3k, just to be safe. 2 of my 3 vehicles have over 100k.

I am an AmsOil dealer and I teach automotive at a local community college. I have an '07 Tacoma with 85,000 miles and an '08 Hyundai Accent with 36,000 miles. I just sold a '95 Taurus with 250,000+ miles and a '98 Ranger with 213,000 miles. I change my oil at 10,000 miles whether it needs it or not. With todays engines being built to much higher standards than yesterday's and the quality of the oils are far superior to the stuff your fathers used, if you're changing your oil at 3,000 miles you're wasting your money. Just the fuel management systems used in todays vehicles helps keep the oils cleaner. Carburetors are nothing more than sophisticated fuel leaks if you think about it. I'd stick with the viscosity levels the manufacturer calls for and go with full synthetic. Most new cars come from the manufacturer with synthetics anyway.

I just bought my first diesel, an '01 2500 SLT (78,000 miles) and that is one of the first things that will happen. AmsOil full synthetic is going into the crankcase.

Default Amsoil

Amsoil is by far the best quality synthetic that you can use for your vehicle. I have been using it for years in eveything I own for on or off road. Yes you can use it for extended intervals and with oil analysis you most likely can go even further between changes. The 5w-20 is only available in the XL line right now but if you do not have the MSD system on your Hemi you can use the 0w-30 with 25,000 mile replacement. Just remember the filter is just as important as the oil so only use the Amsoil full synthetic filters as well for extended intervals. They have alot of great info on their web site as well as great test results. I am a dealer and if you want to pm me I can give you more info as well as a way to save money on you Amsoil purchases as I will not advertise in open forum without a vendor account.
