Default o2 sensor question

I am taking out my cat and putting in a open y pipe what do i do with the o2 sensor that is in the cat? and if i just leave it out and put the spark plug fouler on the back o2 sensor will this work to fool the check engine light?

I wouldn't think so . They sell O2 sensor bungs . You could have someone drill your pipe and weld in a bung so you can install the O2 sensor in the pipe .

How do the fuel trim adjust itself if the O2's are not in place? I hope he lives in a state that does not do inspections. Here in NY a vehicle fails if the emissions are missing or made inoperitive. A tail pipe test would pick up on the hydrocarbons......

Not saying it won't pass emissions but here in Md. they just plug in and see if you have any trouble codes .
