Default Need help with lowering shackles!!!

I have read every post about these things and spent countless hours trying to figure it out. I have heard which ones to go with and which ones not to, also heard that when they say it will drop it 2 inches they really mean 1 inch. So, I just have one question, which is the one to get to get the rear of the truck to match the front as close as possible without having to remove any springs? And with no squeaking issues

OK, if the shackle is 2" shorter than stock, it'll drop it 1" because it sits at a 45 degree angle or so to the ground, it isn't vertical. If they claim to drop 2" the will be about 3"-3.5" longer.....same reason. Regarding brand, I would research who has them and what drop they do, then see if they really are different. SOme are heavier gauge steel, but may not be necessary. Some people just over build stuff, but a shackle kinda works...or doesn't in my experience, the RARELY fail, the bushing usually does before the steel.

^^ he said it. When it comes to quality, I have to say go with the well known brands, they are well known cuz they deliver quality product that people return to. McGaughy's is a good example, quality and a name of backing their workmanship.

Remember the companies like DJM and Belltech have been around since the lowrider craze in the mid to late 80's to the present. The best way to eliminate the squeaking is to pick up an energy suspension bushing kit.

Lowering shackles best way to go on a dodge if all you want is from 1"-1.5"
that's all you'll get from a 2" drop shackle.
Remember most of the squeaks on new suspension parts is due to over tightening of bolts. Torque to 50ft/lbs per dealer - do this when truck is on ground with full weight on it. I advise you re-torque after 500 miles or so as well just in case. Good luck.

use belltechs (I think?), make sure whatever shackles you get has a notch on one side...I've seen them without and they rub on the leafs and start scrapin material off. Also, grease them up well before installing to prevent squeaks..
