Default Changed my oil to synthetic

today I changed over to synthetic, figured it was about time.

I should have checked if the bucket catching the oil had holes in it before I drained it, Lol.... took it to schucks to get it disposed, and they guy was PISSED because when he poured it some of it dripped on the floor, and he was like "should have worn me it was filled with HOLES!" I just wanted to laugh in his face because it was pretty funny haha.

I did my own for 30 bucks, and my friend, who doesn't use synthetic, paid 56 today at jiffy lube... Amazing stuff.

Good choice, Alex! I run Mobil 1, but aside from that, Valvoline is next best choice!

I've heard you can go 5k? Don't take my word for it, I'm still going to go by 3 months, it was pretty nasty oil and I wasn't near 3000 miles.

When you first change over you may need to change at the 3K mark or sooner just so you can flush out the residual old conventional oil with that change. The mix will decrease the life of the synthetic so change it when you're recommended to, the after enjoy the synthetic benefits to the max.

You can go 5k intervals between oil changes on the full synthetic. I still go 3k though, and even less if I've ran it at the track during that period. But I also get my oil changes for free, so... lol. I guess being the asst. mgr. of a Valvoline quick lube has its perks.

I have used Mobil 1 since the early '80's in various vehicles, have been pretty happy with it. But for the new truck I want to use Royal Purple, I have been hearing some good things about it, has anyone had any experience with it. I only have 5,000km on my engine (108 hours), so as a mechanic I would normally wait until 20,000 - 30,000 km until the switch over to full Synthetic, but from the info I can round up from both Dodge and Royal Purple, it doesn't seem to be such an issue.
What are some of your thoughts out there.
