Welcome to the Z for Rams from Baltimore . Hope you enjoy the site . Feel free to ask any questions and well see if we can get ya an answer . Dash being cracked , I hear is common on these trucks . Check out https://www.dashcaps.com/xcart/home.php . Will the drain plug turn ? Does it act like it's clogged ? If it does try shooting some air in the drain to clear the clog . Park brake , adjust the shoes make sure the cables aren't frozen . May have to adjust the cable afterwards . Let us know . Talk to ya soon . Tom

Thanks for all the comments, and I will try and do more than lurk!

As for the drain plug it was filled with silicone and it will turn but nothing drains. That's kinda why I wanted to replace. I don't want the silicone coming free and draining at 60 mph.

I do want to mod the truck with newer 20's from the new style rams and a leveling kit. But for now making sure everything is in working order is my priority. Besides I do most of my mods on my 350 Z. Its going to be a work truck that I hopefully can mod.

O and quick question to you guys is day time running lamps standard on a 97? I get a buzz threw the radio when I start up but it goes away when I turn the lights on. But it seems to have day time running lamps and its kinda strange!

Thanks all

Kevin

Welcome to the Z!

Well, if the drain plug is only being held on by silicone, I'd say get a new plug! Also, see if the hole is corroded or crudded over, it's common. Tom's air idea would be the best way to clear it. But those are some quick checks before thinking about replacing the whole unit. You may have a bad ground to your lights if you're getting the buzz through thr radio; current passing stright to frame and not thorugh the lights. Check your lamp grounds and the battery-frame and make sure they're tight and clean. Not sure if you'd have DTRs or not, my '98 dakota did.
