Default Anyone have this problem...Surging under low rpms?

I did a search on here and couldn't find anything so I'm gonna post...
I've had my 09 Ram in twice for "surging issues." Both times they "could not duplicate problem."
It surges at low rpms...300-500 rpms sometimes. Never when I'm using cruse. The guy at the dearship said it's prob the MDS kicking in and out...sounds logical but still not satisfied. Hence why I'm asking you guys...thanks in advance.

I've had a few surges that kinda rocked me in my chair a little, and at varying rpms but I've always attributed it to the MDS going back from 4 to 8 - especially if I'm about to downshift and other times when I first start to accelerate, the timing sometimes causes the surges that you're probably feeling too. I've had some surges coming to a stop as well in the rpm range you're talking. Seems like pretty common behavior from what I've read on the board.

I had major fluctuations one time, i was on a back country road in Missouri, speed limit was 50 & i had my cruise set, straight road, rolling small hills.
It occured for about 2 minutes, i was ready to find a place to pull over & it seemed to clear itself up, & when i got back home, i changed the air filter, the truck had 30,000 miles & the filter was definitely dirty

Next time you're driving at low RPM, hit the tow/haul button, this disables the MDS and O/D gears, and see if it still surges. IF it does, it's not MDS related, if it stops.. you have your answer. I have an '07 and at low RPM cruising it has trouble picking a gear from time to time, and the tow/haul always smooths it out.

Cdnoilram thanks for the suggestion. I'll do that tonight when I'm on the highway...if it acts up again.

Ram 1500 4.7: The dealer basically said the same thing to me but I didn't have a service lady give me the inside scoop. I hope Dodge fixes this...also glad to hear I'm not the only one having this problem.
