Default Headers???

so im lookin at headers for my truck...i was looking at the bbk shorties but i know that i wont get too much performance out of a untuned shorty...i really want that throaty growl and power is good but its more for sound. i still have a stock exhaust system to the muffler where i put a super 40 and dumped it under the bed...any ideas/personal experience?

Check with BMC Performance here on what they might offer.

I've used JBA headers on several vehicles (shorty type) and really liked them!

even with shorty headers you should see a decent sized difference in both sound and performance over a stock exhaust manifold. I looked up some stuff online and on this website they tested the difference between stock/shorties/long tubes on a 5.3 liter Tahoe.

http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...ers/index.html

In some rpm ranges the difference between shorties and the long tubes wasnt much at all but it usually (untill you get into the higher rpms) had a good sized gab between stock and the shorties when it comes to horsepower and torque.

Even check Pacesetter . Inexpensive . I would still run the exhaust out from under the truck . That constant roar will get to ya after awhile .

Whatever route you take, I'd recommend going with something that's 100% 304 stainless steel. Anything less than that is garbage, including 409. I've heard good things about JBA, but I don't have any actual experience. Yet. Let us know what you find and how things turn out, I'd like to throw some headers on my truck as well.
