Default Check Engine light and Brand new Superchips not working

I just got a check engine light. it is PO400....or P0500...lol i can't remember. it is speed sensor circuit...that's what the flashpaq said. O...I just bought the superchips 3815 new and tried to use it today and it keeps saying that it can;t read ignition on...even if i remove all of the fuses for everything else that could possibly have a draw on the circuit. I am going to call superchips tomorrow but the tuner works to read check engine lights i don't understand why it reads one thing but not another.... does anyone else have this same problem with their tuner? as for the light...that is probably the same reason that my speedo doesn't work below 20/brake and abs light are on right (need a new abs speed sensor?) I'm just double checking myself that's all.....

Congrats on the new programmer, but sorry about all the problems. Did you have the CEL on before you got the programmer? I am guessing so, and it could be plenty of things wrong. ABS wheel speed sensor, or the vehicle speed sensor. And I am no expert on these Superchips programmers, but that may be causing the programmer to not work. But that is just a speculation.

Man, sorry for your troubles. Sounds like the program is having a hard time accessing the PCM module and making the electronic handshake to start setting the program variables.

I had that happen with a new Superchips on a 2003 GMC Yukon. Called the tech line and they ended up replacing the unit. Luckily it didn't start writing the program then stop 1/2 way, rendering the vehicle computer and the programmer useless!

I'd check all your ABS sensors to make sure they are connected first. A connector may have worked loose.

ok i will. i plan on a) calling the tech's tomorrow. and b) pulling out the old abs speed sensor ( as it is in the back differential if i'm not mistaken and i have to change the fluid anyways...) but the vehicle speed sensor is brand new. I replaced it when i had my old transmission apart before it was rebuilt. and I thought that it was just the abs light being on too that was causing it to go wrong because to me, if it can communicate enough to get the info on the check engine light then it should be able to get the program too right? idk that's just my logic....

and no i did not have the CEL on before i tried to program it. just the abs and brake light.

i called superchips today. After going through 2 different jerks for tech support i finally found one who could work with me. After a lot of different tests, it was determined that, because it was reading and clearing the check engine codes, it was just the programmer communicating with the flash ship on the truck. He then did a background check to make sure the vin was right and that i actually bought the programmer and then said that i can send it to them and they will fix it and send it back to me for FREE and in about a week. a little disappointed about having to have it fixed, but impressed with it being done for free.

Cool. That gives you a week or so to take care of the other issues.

yea. I have an appointment today to get the speed sensor replaced and to figure out why the abs and brake light are on, if it isn't the bad sensor. I know how to do it, but i don't have the time with finals coming up. lol
