Default 2006 Megacab 1500 winch system

I have a 2006 Mega cab 1500. Does anyone know or has anyone mounted a winch behind the front bumper like the Power wagon? I secured a 12000lb winch and I would love to put it in the truck behind the bumper. Reason is I only have 2" to spare when my truck is parked in the garage against the back wall.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do do this you'd have to get a winch bumper to replace your stock front fascia. There are a lot of them out there.

That is what I am trying to avoid because of the space in my garage. I just find it hard to believe that there is nothing available 4 years later or that no one has tried it. It is looking like I may be welding my own braces and brackets to get it done.

thanks,

Well, one way to do it is just that...make up your own braces and tray. But what I'm not sure you'll be able to do is keep the overall length on the truck down because it doesn't appear you have enough room to set it behind the front bumper.

There are some front bull bar type systems (GoRhino) that attach to the front and have a base for the winch.

Recently Warn came out with their "Hidden" system. They list it for 2002 - 2005 but in looking at their website, it appears it would fit a 2006 too!

Here's a link:

The Warn system looks really clean! I noticed it comes out at the lower valance opening but with some fabwork, I think you could make it come out in the right place of your front fascia.

They are just down the road from me.

I like the looks of that also. I guess this long weekend I may be doing some investigation on how this is going to work because I pick up the winch next tuesday. I would love to put it in the truck most likely to get stuck.

I'd see if they can't get you a drawing of the bracket configuration. Then you have dimensions to work with when looking at your truck to see if it all fits. You could mock it up pretty quickly with a pencil, straight edge/ruler and some cardboard.

I have never heard of the winch before but for the price I cannot pass it up. If I cannot get it into the megacab I guess my 17 year old will have a 12000 lb winch for his 87 YJ wrangler. Here is the info on the winch that I could find. http://www.promarkoffroad.com/truck-...ery-winch.html
