Default 2X4 vs. 4X4 front suspension

Are the '09 2X4 and 4X4 front suspensions significantly different? I ask because I like the idea of the leveling kit and also bigger rims for the look of it but noone seems to make a leveling kit for the 2X4. Are the front ends radically different such that the fits don't fit or are unsafe on the 2X4?

I would have liked the 4X4 but I was on a real tight budget at sales time (still am) and almost didn't even get the 4.7 (but glad I did). If I'd had the money and the time I would have ordered a truck just so, but such is life.

In any case, someone help me out here? Is there anyway I can do this without costing a fortune (ie getting a real lift)?

I've seen several of the 2" leveling kits on eBay anywhere from $49 to $120.
Just search 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. Lots of pics and info.

Good luck!

I don't mean to nit pick, but the 4x4 has a coil over shock, not a strut. A strut would replace the upper a arm, and I believe the 4x4 still has both upper and lower a arms. But the fact is they are different front suspensions. 2wd has the spring on the lower control arm, to get the half shaft through on 4x4's, dodge moved the spring onto the shock.
