Default 727 trans question

does anyone know if a 727 trans out of a older 318 bolt up with my 97 318 and transfer case? my stock tranny went out and im haveing trouble finding a replacement but i know someone with a 727 trans for sale

Should bolt up , but not sure of the trans output shaft spline for the transfer case has the same spline or bolt pattern either .

there are different style 727s need to figure that out first.... big block or small block 727

if its out of a car it wont work, you need one with a short tail shaft, and like mentioned before a big block wont fit a small block, I dont have a clue as to what these new trucks have for a bolt pattern anymore,

If I'm correct depending on how old your talkin . The older rams transfer case put the front driveshaft out on the passenger side . I don't think it would make any difference as long as you use your transfer case and it bolts up and has the same spline .

No it won't work. The 97 trans has an overdrive unit which makes it longer than a 727. The crossmember would have to be moved, the front drive shaft shortened and the rear lengthened. The transfer case shifter would need to be modified. The computer wouldn't be happy either, it uses an electronic speed sensor, so no speedo or cruse control etc.
