Default Interesting run in for my Ram Tonight

Yeah I have no pics, thankfully, to document the terrible event but my Ram ALMOST went for a swim tonight.

We have a couple of stocked catfish ponds and I went across the levy of one tonight to check the new spillway and make sure everything was ok.....yeahhhhh.....

So those of you that don't know, Arkansas has had an unusually wet year....heck the last TWO years have been unusually wet The ponds are higher than I have EVER seen them and my road is currently flooded. So anyhow I crossed the levy and checked the pond. Well I still have my Goodyear HPs and figured if I turned around at the end of the levy I'd get stuck...well that would have been much better than what happened.

I started backing down the levy and the rain was pouring and I could barely see so I was trying to keep from going off the steep side but got too close to the pond. I didn't realize what was wrong at first then when I went forward and felt the rearend move I knew what was going on. I happened to have my dad on the phone and told him to get a chain and come up there immediately. He couldn't figure out if he wanted to lecture me more or pull me out but he took off. He got there and hooked up to my shackles up front and that 4.3 V6 Chevy wouldn't do it, why he didn't grab the 350 I DON'T know except he always says it's better to have JUST enough power than too much...anyhow... So he could pull me out with my tow strap. My wife got there with my drop ball and I put it on as my dad left to go get one of the 4x4 tractors.

He got there about 20 minutes later, after I swear my truck slid in even more and tried to pull it out from the back. I had the shackle up front tied to a tree with the tow strap to keep the front end from going in the pond. We put a bind on it and I had to cut the strap. we got the tractor hooked to the front through both shackles and pulled her out! Then across the levy. On the other side my dad asked if I could get back across. I told him I didn't think I had the tires for it so we went the LOOOONG way with me hooked to the tractor the whole time.

Moral of the story......Goodyear HPs are CRAP when you're not on cement or asphalt!

Luke

I have to agree with the Goodyear tires and them Arkansas levees are killer. Slid down one in my Bronco II thankfully into a bean field and not a catfish pond. Couldn't believe that little sucker crawled its way out once I locked those hubs in.

Time for some grippers on the Ram!!!

If it'll quit raining I can take a pic of the levy. My dad said I was lucky I didn't collapse it....I disagree but whatever. He told me later he did the SAME thing in the day years ago.
