Default Is it unrealistic...

To make a 4x2 a 4x4 without spending an outrageous amount of money?

Guess it depends on your idea of an outrageous amount of money. I would say no its not possible without spending a lot of cash. You have an 03, I would say trade it for a similar truck, year and miles and just get a 4x4 with a HEMI if you dont already have one. You would probably pay less that way then altering your 4x2, but I dont have any numbers or technical info to back up my claim either. Im sure some others will chime in.

^^ agreed. You'd probably pay less in the long run if you just got a 4x4 in similar year than try and do the conversion... unless you have a donor truck of course.

You could do it if you are an accomplished do it yourselfer but by the time you revise everything including computer controls and such, you're not gonna see any significant different in cost if you had just gotten a factory built 4X4.

And if you start paying someone to do the work, it's gonna be a lot more expensive than what it would cost to buy that 4X4.

Agreed with everyone above me . Unless you are mechanically inclined and have a donor vehicle sitting there for parts . Then the only thing you'll have into it will be your time .

Yeah, like everyone mentioned. Save up, buy the truck you really want and then in the end you'l be far more satisfied.
