2010 Factory Performance Hood
|
I just ordered a 2010 1500 RAM Sport (Mango Tango) with the Performance Hood. The first thing my hubby asked was if it was functional. I said I didn't know and neither did the dealer. Does anyone have any info on this?

If that is the aluminum hood with the 2 scoops then not. Its the aftermarket fglass hood that is functional.

Any pics of what it looks like ? Does it look like this ? If it does , the hood has non-functional integrated scoops .

The only pic I have is in the brochure, and its an all black R/T. But looking at the brochure, I'm 99% sure its the one Tom posted ie. non-functional. Oh well, still looks mean though. Thank you all for your quick responses.

With a dremel tool and some gutter cover you could at least make it a blow through hood to get some extra cooling through the engine bay.

"gutter cover" ? seriously ? why would anybody glue or screw gutter cover to a $35000 truck ? How bout buying a couple grill insert pieces from Dodge so the pattern and color match the rest of the grill. It might cost a little more, but I'm pretty sure it's worth it to keep from butchering a beautiful truck. The bigger problem is you can't have that much water getting into the engine compartment.

I've seen gutter cover used to great effect, but I agree i'd rather see manufactured inserts. And with the water issue, yes, you should be careful about WHERE the water ends up, but remember, the bottom of your truck is open and water sprays up regardless. The SRT hood is an open design to cool the engine bay, as is the daytona if they remove the plastic plug. I picked up a functional ram air hood that has water vents in the back of the hood to keep water away from the battery and fuse panel, but they still get wet from regular driving.

Don't you have to be driving really fast for the functional scoop to be worth it, acually work.
