Default 1st time Ram owner, converted FOREVER!

First of all, ive read some of your posts and all you guys and gals definitely seem to know what youre talking about! 3 weeks back, I saw a like new 2008 shortbed/regular cab 4x4 with a Hemi, in a beautiful shade of pearlish maroon, sitting on a local lot. A real beauty, it had 20'' chromes, 12k miles, a killer MagnaFlow exhaust system, and sat like a rottweiler on patrol. I had to have it.

Please bear in mind that im a total car guy, with a penchant for uber-sedans and sports cars (I presently own a 07 AMG SL55, an M3 with endless mods, and a Lotus Elise with a supercharger that boasts 360hp). I drove the truck, and it spoke to me. A few hours of paperwork later, and it was in my driveway... I LOVE IT!!! The Hemi is a work of art, the MagnaFlows really let the motor grumble the way God intended a v8 to.

My intentions are to perhaps let Hennesey have my truck for a while to install some mods... I would like to find out if anyone here has dealt with Hennesey before, or if there are other options. I would like to stay streetable, with workable 4wd, keep approimately the same stance, and get the HP up to around 600 or so. My truck will be primarily used for street use, but id also like to know about transfer case mods to handle the power etc... the laundry list is long, and I cant wait to get started. Id love to end up with one of the streets baddest Rams, and I think ive just started a brand new love affair (well, one that my wife's ok with ). Thanks! Phil, Northeast PA

Welcome to the Z! Glad we have another convert! Sounds like you're a gasoline for blood kind of guy, so I can relate to that. If you're planning on hitting 600HP you're gonna be looking at a bottom to top rebuild of the engine as the stock bottom end really maxes out at 500HP, though there's lots of help from our vendors for stroker kits and such. I'm building a 450-500HP street runner myself and will be hitting 400 before I throw an intercooled procharger on it. You'll also have to beef up all your gearing (tranny and both diffs) or you'll start stripping the 4x4 if you go WOT.

Welcome to the forum.

I've got the Black version of your truck, and they are TRULY a sight to behold, and a beast on the street. I'm going to put some 35s on mine because I'm not overly thrilled with the Goodyear HPs, but everything else is right. I too have a Magnaflow and it sounds fantastic. If you get a cold air intake (I've got a K&N) it REALLY finishes off the package as far as sound goes. My dad says my Hemi sounds like a jet when it's spooled up! lol

Oh, I didn't see if you had a CAI yet, but if you don't I'd highly recommend the BFI from Airflow Innovations (one our supporting vendors), it's probably the best you'll find for the HEMI for performance AND stlye.
