Default Winding Sound

I recently had to replace my EGR valve. Around the same time as this I noticed my truck (2005 Ram 5.7L) started making a winding sound upon acceleration. Almost sounds like a turbo. Has anyone experienced this before?

I'm getting the same thing. Press the throtle, you get a winding or sucking sound. Let off, and it stops. And the sound tone or pitch has a direct relation to how much you push the throtle. I have no idea what it is. I thought it was a vaccuum issue. Hopefully someone can help us out.

I hear it also when I put my foot to the rugs. I have a 2002 5.9L V8. My motor doesn't have EGR, so its not that yours is broken or anything. I am nearly certain it is just the air sucking into the throttle body to supply these big motors with horsepower.

This one I have no idea about. Mine only does it when I punch it as well, so I guess yours could be a vacuum problem. I would check around for big, unhooked hoses, or holes. I would check the brake booster, maybe the throttle body gasket. spraying carb cleaner around gaskets helps. If there is a leak, the engine will sputter as the carb cleaner gets into the engine. Let us know what you find.
