Default Torsion Keys for '04 4 x4 Quad Ram ...

Looking to install a pair of Torsion Keys on the truck before i go out and get some new tires. I was looking at Rough Country's keys. It appears they run for about $99.00 a pair. Anyone know if the keys are available cheaper anywhere? And anyone install a pair w/ any pros or cons to them?

Thanks,
Kevin

Did a set on a Chebbie several years ago . Not hard to do . Just make sure you get the front end realigned once it's done . Might want to go to Google and enter the part number . See what comes back .

Indexing the torsion bars will cause your CV joints, and ball joints joints to wear much faster depending on the amount of lift. I installed them as a temporary fix on my old Jimmy when the tires I got were too big.

Does anyone know if they make differential drop kit to pair with the leveling kits or torsion keys?? I had a tundra (never did the lift but looked into it) and they sold a few spacers bushings and bolts in a kit to bring the factory geometry and inch closer to stock, an inch was the only size sold. So if you put a two inch leveling kit on it and a differential drop kit, you were only changing your angles of travel one inch and still getting a two inch lift. From what I heard the tundras with anything over 2" in the front would start splattering grease from the CV boots, but the drop kit helped tremendously with this issue. Plus they were cheap, like 20-50 bucks something in that neighborhood. Small price to pay for that type of prevention. blah blah blah sorry for rambling.

Torsion keys won't lift it that high to effect the cv joints .

Cool

i ordered some rough country torision keys they are cast molded not the greatest, they sucked to install and on my 03 ram when i installed them without cranking the keys up i already had a 3 inch lift wthout any adjustments to the leveling bolts and i cant go any lower if i wanted to plus i had to get longer shocks, so i sent mine back. they are poorly made, because they are molded or put into a casting to make them, the metal when it cools can have air pockets inside the torision key and can break or snap when you are installin them or just hittin a bump. sorry..........my truck is my baby, it will only get the best plus cheap shit, is sold cheap and is made cheaper the new keys i got now are lazer cut from solid steel one piece design, fit perfect, a breeze to put on. not like rough country keys that i had to use a hammer to put them onto the torision bar.....

Thanks for the info ... Two questions for you ... 1) What keys did you end up going with and 2) how long ago did you install the keys? The new keys on RC website look like they are laser cut now as well ... but if you already have one that works i'll just go w/ theirs! (I'm trying to upload a pic of the keys off the website, don't know if it will work or not.)

Could you post a pic of your truck after you installed the keys? I would like to see what kind of a stance you end up w/ once they are installed.

Thanks,
Kevin

Cool

i went with skyjacker keys, and two weeks to a month ago they were installed with the longer shocks. the stance was perfect and level.
