Default Tire Recommendations

My new Ram has black wall tires on it. I am going to the tire store soon and was considering getting raised white letter tires for it. Anyone dissatisfied with the stock Wranglers? Any suggestions for a smooth, quiet RWL tire for my 4X4 Quad cab? Thanks

The stockers are not very good off road, which is important to me.

The stockers have caused me trouble in the past on my last truck, 6 flats on simple forest roads which were well groomed on a week long trip. They were replaced as soon as I got back home.

I have not had problems with them on the street, other than they don't seem to have the best grip in the rain. We will see how they do in the snow shortly...

Rest assured, once the spring arrives and I am camping, I will be purchasing the Nitto Terra Grapplers as they are a tougher tire and hold up well off road.

They do not come in white letters, so you may want to take a look at the BFG AT's as they have a good following as well.

They are great tires...if all you do is run your truck on dry pavement. A good set of Nittos or ProComp A/Ts are a great all 'round all season tire.

I've got the Procomp Xtreme A/T's they are awesome! i was looking at the terra grapplers but heard a lot of bad reviews about the tread life.

Thanks for the info guys. My truck wil only see pavement, so I want something smooth and quiet. There are lots of choices out there. Maybe it shouldn't be, but highest on my priority list is looks. I have seen these new Rams with RWL tires and I just think they look much better than black walls.

Haven't been a Goodyear lover . My truck came with Goodyear Wrangler GSA's on it . Almost got 30,000 miles on them . My BFG's I'm getting well into the 40,000 mile range . Go with Bfg's or something comparable .

Not a Good Year fan, either.
As far as RWL tires go, BFGs are about it.
I have 17" rims and have searched high and low for RWL solid or open letter.
Michelin makes a set with open letters but you'll be required to sign over an arm, a leg, and your first born male child in order to afford them. Good tires, though.
The BFG A/Ts are the best for the money, considering the long life and mileage you'll get from them.

I think gooyear tires suck. They have poor treadlife and traction. I had bfg's and yokohamma's on my last truck and both worked and wore very well.
