Default 3715 Tuner Chip Question

So I can get my hands on a used 3715 tuner chip for a pretty good price and the guy selling it says it has been reset so it isn't "VIN Locked" and will work for my truck. Is this a good idea or is this the kind of thing that you definitely need to buy new? If it isn't then I am going to jump on this deal but I wanted to ask you guys since I am still pretty new to Rams and whatnot. Thanks for the help!

I would say buy it. If you can go and personally pick it up, I would try to use it on your truck to double check before buying. But as long as it isn't VIN locked, it will work perfect. And you will never regret buying a tuner, unless your mileage drops because you can't keep your foot off the floorboards! I love my Superchips tuner. I say go for it!

Alright, thanks guys! It isn't local so I will have to take this guy's word for it but for the price and everything it should be worth it.

Do you know where it's at ? Might put it out there and see if one of our people on here are close to it and see if they could go and verify it . Maybe even do a temporary install on their ride to see if they notice the difference , then uninstall it and ship it to ya . Only a thought .

If it's not "VIN locked", and you can verify that by trying to install it on your truck before you hand over the cash, I'd go for it.

Ok so now I have a new question. I was doing more research on a new one of these and every site I have seen says it only works from 98 and on Rams...if I have a 97 am I screwed with getting the 3715 tuner? Is there something else that was made for 97s that I need to look into instead? Thanks!

That I am not sure of. If Superchips website says 98 and up, I would trust them. But, to be safe, you could always call them up and see what they say!

if this is a no go for you you could always look at the jet chips line...have a jet chip in our 96 so i know they go that far back
