Most of the time, a large EVAP leak can be seen easily...Since you already replaced your gas cap, it could possibly be a loose or cracked vacuum hose, EVAP canister leak...Check under the hood yourself, and inspect all the vacuum hoses, and make sure they are connected and not cracked or torn...

Im taking it you mean the check engine light??? If so, then you can erase the codes with the code reader, but unless you find the issue I would leave it on because it is obvious there is an issue, and if you decide to take it to a shop they are going to want to read the code themselves...

Got the same with my 01, 5.9. Evap solonoid and leak detector pump should be on the passenger side fender, toward the front. Back track all vacuum hoses, under the truck, to the evap canisters. Several hoses on top of that. Anything that even looks suspect should be changed. I went the extra an put zip ties on all connections, just to make sure they are tight. Once you clear the code, it can take a while for it to come back on, so best not to reset until you have the problem fixed. Here's a couple of links that might help explain how the system works. Hope you have better luck that I'm having with mine. I think I am going to have to have it smoke tested.

Sorry, don't know why this is not working. Replace the asterisks with "****************"

Sorry... competing forum links get asteriked out by the software here.

I agree, it's either the evap cannister itself or the lines to and from it.

some autoparts stores will read and clear codes for you for little or no money but disconnecting the battery is probably the cheapest and quickest way to clear them.

One other option is to find your AutoShutOff/PCM fuse under the hood (you'll need a fuse location chart - see the Owner's Manual) and pull that fuse for about a minute.
