I talked to the parts and service guy at my dealership about ordering in a 180 t-stat for me and he said that it would cause an error code to pop up...I think he said that it would pop up in the winter months (I'm in Nova Scotia) Has anyone else had this problem in a similar climate? If I go with the t-stat should I also put in an electric fan for it to work properly? Also, will any of this void the factory warranty?

Thanks guys!

I would hook up a second e fan to come on with the one that's already there. (its the a/c fan actually) You could tap into the live wire to that fan with a relay and power the other fan directly from the battery with a fuse of course. Using the relay and power from the existing fan to trip the relay thus pulling power direct. I would think you would see some fuel savings doing this.

Where would you put an extra fan?

Fact of the matter is most of the big rigs i have seen and worked on do have either an electric or air operated fan clutch

A thermostat sets the minimum operating temp - not the norm.......
The heat removed is a matter of the output of the engine, what the radiator and rest of the system can remove. So actual operating temp will depend more on the abilities of the cooling system (rad, fan, etc.) and what the engine puts out and not really on the stat.

But Airdog,

There are V-8 out there with no fan belt- That only use Electric Fans (But not on Trucks!)

the 06 and Up FORD Crown Vic, Mustang

With a truck, i would not just trust a electric fan!!!

Think about, On Big Rigs if the electric fan would work don't you think they would put it on them, to save on Fuel, Belts, Noise and Horsepower ????

Just my thought, i am not there to hurt anyone's feeling

2011 F150 come stock with e-fan. Maybe even 2010.

My truck runs fine no problems at all in the heat stop and go when ever... and no clutch fan! But i dont pull stuff so if you do haul trailers i would keep the clutch fan for sure until a good kit comes available.
