Default Sudden loss of power while accelerating.

This has happened twice now. When accelerating, once out of the toll both and once while trying to pass, the engine suddenly cut back drasticly on RPMs. It felt like the tranny was slipping, or that it was hunting for a gear, but in those cases I would expect the RPM to surge as I suddenly switch into neutral. Instead is was like the computer was suddenly cutting back on gas even though I was mashing the pedal.

My first thought was that it was the TCS as was pulling out of the toll, but after this recent episode where I was already up to speed I'm not sure what's going on.

Any ideas? I would take it to the dealer, but since it's only happened twice, and the issue lasted less than two seconds each time, I'm pretty cetrain they wouldn't find anything and just give it back. What do you all think?

I had a similar problem of losing power in my old Dakota. Ended up finding that my catalyst had broken loose in my converter and would block off the exhaust port when I accellerated. It's a possibility to look at. knock your cat with your hand (when it's cold) and see if there's a rattle. Have your dealership look at it since you have a warranty still.

Good tip, I never would have thought of something like that. The dealership should have my hood mat in soon, I can ask them to check while it's in for that install.

Well, I think the fuel cutoff comes in at 110. I was racing some chev and pulling nicely when it went flat.

Yeah ... I was definitly not going 110. Only about 40 the first time. and around 80 the second time.

With it still under warranty, you'd be crazy not to take it back to the dealer. Not all DTC's will turn on the MIL, so there's a chance you have stored codes in the PCM along with environmental data that will point to the problem. The APP sensor, the ETC, or PCM are some of the potential culprits.

maybe a sensor is shorted out cause its got oil in its connector.
