$550.00 shipped, $65.00 for 3 quarts of Royal Purple 75W140 gear oil (already has limited slip additive), $105.00 to have Dodge re-flash PCM to correct the pinion factor, and $250.00 to a mechanic/friend. Probably would have been $450.00 for labor if I took it to the local gear shop.... So a total of $970.00....

If Dodge were to have done it, it would have been $2800.00 to $3200.00!!
I lost the warranty on my rear diff, but with the money I saved by not having Dodge do it, if it screws up I can do it again 2 more times and still not spend the same as it would have costed to let Dodge do it once!!
I was just told that you do not need to reflash for speedometer because it is read off the gears so it is automatic? why did dodge charge you for this?

What gears did you have before the swap? 3.55 or 3.93? Also what kind of change did you get in you mileage (assuming you are driving like a civilized person again)? Seeing how you live in LA, i'm assuming there aren't too much hills in you normal driving. Keep us updated.

The speedometer is read from the tranny. You will need to re-flash to change the pinion factor.

I had 3.55's before I swapped to the 4.10's. My mileage dropped about 2 mpg city and highway. Which is still better than my 05 Ram w/Hemi...I was getting around 12.5-13mpg (city) in it and now with this truck after the swap I'm getting around 14-14.5mpg (city). I am in my truck everyday, all day, so I put alot of miles on vehicles mainly in city driving conditions.
But honestly, if I were worried about fuel mileage I wouldn't have purchased a full sized truck with a big V8. I would have gotten a Civic or soemthing. And with me being 6'3" and 260lbs, that would mean I wouldn't be driving a car, I'd be wearing it!!!!LOL
