Default Bluetooth hookup for RES

Hello Everyone~I have a 09 Ram with the RES radio and want to link my Blackberry through the Bluetooth function on my radio.

Do I need a kit to do this? When I push the Uconnect button or the little Bluetooth button it just says uconnect not available or something like that.

Any help would be appreciated.(I have a buddy who just got a Tundra, and his works without any add ons. I can't let him go around thinking his truck is better than mine.)

Thanks,
Doug

Tat means your radio came without the bluetooth function. I need to doouble check my info at home later this evening but I think it's available as an add on from your dealer and will have to be installed by them because the TIPMCGW will have to be updated at the time of installation.

My truck was just like yours. I had the uConnect buttons but no BT interface. I had my dealer order the kit to add it on. If I remember right, it was about $340 and included the iPod integration as well. You will still need the iPod cable. It runs about $35 and comes in two versions. One for ipods that charge via 12 volt firewire (older ones), and one for models that charge on 5 volt USB. I made the mistake of buying the 12 volt one for my 4th gen nano. It will still work but will not keep it charged. Luckily PIE makes a nice adapter that switches it back to the 5 volt USB for the charging.

It is not a difficult install, the directions included with the kit include nice pictures on how everything comes together. You can do it yourself, but it will still involve a trip back to the dealer to have them flash the computer to enable it. I did my own install and my dealer did the flash for free since I did just buy the truck and kit from them.
