I have a DTE on both my trucks. On my Ram 1500 the lowest setting was 12km. I was hauling about 35 sheets of 1/2-inch Fir plywood in the back, plus my tool trailer which weighs about 2,000kg. Barely made it to a gas station. I didn't think I was going to finish the job that day and I was expecting to leave the jobsite with an empty truck. That Hemi gets really thirsty when you're going up and down hills with a full load. On my Ram 3500 I never let it get lower than half a tank of fuel, and I don't pay any attention to the DTE gauge.

I normally don't go below a 1/4 tank. Especially now that it's winter here in Montana.

That's me, never gets below 1/2 anymore. I let it go 'til the light came on one time, last year when gas was waaaaay expensive, I had enough to get me to the gas station, I put $5 dollars in a 26 gallon tank and prayed it would get me the 45 miles home in heavy stop and go traffic. Light was back on as I pulled off the highway at my exit! It was almost $90 to fill it up from there, but I also don't want all that trash in my tank, either!

My name is Ram... and my tank is empty (dam it). Seriously though folks, don't let your tank get to low because the fuel is also the coolant for the fuel pump. If you are real low and stop to fill up the cool fuel you add can "freeze-up" your hot fuel pump. To get the truck going again you have to tap the fuel tank to get pump going again, but fuel pump life is greatly redused
