Default Chrome clad wheels on Sport & Laramie

How do the chrome clad wheels on the Sport & Laramie hold up to the winter elements?

Are they actually chrome or is it a plastic? I figure if it's plastic they'll probably last alot longer.

The cladding is plastic. Here in Texas we don't get much snow so I can't answer relative to how they hold up in winter weather. It would be interesting to no if they are completely bonded to the wheel or if there are spaces where ice and mud can accumulate between the clad cap and the wheel.

The cladding is chromed plastic. If you keep it clean and wash the road crud off of them routinely, they'll keep just fine. Road salts will degrade the chrome pretty quickly so keep them clean!

The chrome 20s my brother has on his '05 have held up really well to the winters in Alberta, no pitting or lifting. He just cleans them when he can to keep road salt off.

The dealer just replaced one of my wheels on my 09 Laramie. When you look at the wheel from behind, you can see it is a plastic piece attached right to the aluminum rim. One of my wheels was damaged before I got the truck and I inquired to a wheel repair shop to see if it could be repaired. He told me if the aluminum rim was damaged it could probably be fixed, but if the chromed plastic cover was damaged it can't be fixed. Just keep them clean, I use a product from "Chemical Guys" named wheel guard, it works great.
